Combining a DJ account with Auto-DJ gives you the best of both worlds: live shows whenever you want them, with Auto-DJ automatically covering the rest of the time. Popular free encoders include RocketBroadcaster, BUTT, and LadioCast — any encoder supporting Shoutcast or Icecast will work.
Step 1: Set up Auto-DJ
Make sure Auto-DJ is enabled and configured before creating a DJ account.
Step 2: Create a DJ account
Go to Configuration > DJs > Create DJ Account. You can configure:
- Permissions: start/stop the stream or Auto-DJ, manage playlists or media, FTP access (full or a private folder), and access to statistics, listeners, and logs.
- Login restrictions: limit the DJ to specific days/times, useful for avoiding schedule overlap between multiple DJs.
Step 3: Find your connection details
Go to General > Quick Links and choose the settings under "When AutoDJ is running". The password is your DJ username and password joined with a colon (e.g. alex:yourpassword); leave the username field blank. Note that DJ connections always use the Shoutcast protocol, even on Icecast plans — this only affects the connection method, not your stream format.
Step 4: Connect
Enter these details into your encoder and connect — you should start broadcasting immediately.
