WHMCS is billing and support automation software you can install directly onto your hosting account using Softaculous, the auto-installer included with your Onebux Hosting plan. This guide walks through the installation process.
Note: You will need a valid WHMCS license to activate your installation.
Step 1: Access Softaculous
Log in to your hosting control panel (cPanel or DirectAdmin) and open the Softaculous Apps Installer, usually found in the Software or Extra Features section.
Step 2: Locate WHMCS
Use the Softaculous search bar to find WHMCS, then click its icon to begin.
Step 3: Configure the installation
- Choose Protocol: Select https:// — WHMCS requires SSL to function correctly. If your domain doesn't have a certificate yet, issue a free one first.
- Choose Domain: Select the domain to install WHMCS on.
- In Directory: Leave blank to install at the domain root, or enter a subdirectory name (e.g. "whmcs") to install there instead.
- Admin Directory: Defaults to "admin" — change this if you'd like a custom admin folder name.
- Admin Username, Password & Email: Set the credentials for your WHMCS admin account.
The remaining fields (database name, table prefix, language) can usually be left at their defaults. Click Install to begin.
Step 4: Installation progress
Softaculous will display a progress bar while it installs WHMCS. Once finished, you will see a success message with links to your new site and admin panel.
Step 5: Access WHMCS
Visit yourdomain.com/admin (or your custom admin directory) to log in to the WHMCS admin panel.
Step 6: After installation
- Use a strong password and enable Two-Factor Authentication on your admin account.
- Check Utilities > Update WHMCS to confirm you are on the latest version.
- Configure WHMCS's settings, payment gateways, and product setup to match your hosting business.
