Installing WordPress with Softaculous

Onebux Hosting includes Softaculous, a one-click installer for WordPress and hundreds of other applications. This guide covers installing WordPress through Softaculous on either cPanel or DirectAdmin.

Step 1: Log in to your hosting account

cPanel is typically found at yourdomain.com:2083 and DirectAdmin at yourdomain.com:2222. You can also log in directly from the Client Area without re-entering your control panel password.

Step 2: Open Softaculous

In cPanel, look under the Software section; in DirectAdmin, look under Extra Features. Click the Softaculous Apps Installer icon.

Step 3: Find WordPress

WordPress appears among the popular applications, or under the Blog category. Click its icon and then click Install.

Step 4: Configure the installation

  • Choose Protocol: Select https:// or http:// depending on whether your domain has an SSL certificate.
  • Choose Domain: Select the domain to install WordPress on.
  • In Directory: Leave blank to install at the domain root, or enter a subdirectory (e.g. "blog") to install there instead.
  • Site Name & Description: Enter a name and short description for your site.
  • Admin Username, Password & Email: Set the credentials for your WordPress admin account.

Optionally choose a language and any plugins/themes you would like pre-installed, then click Install.

Step 5: You're done

Once installation finishes, you'll see your site URL and admin login link. Save your admin credentials somewhere safe, then log in to start customizing your site.
