How to Enable or Disable PHP Functions

Some PHP functions are disabled by default for security reasons. You can enable or disable specific functions yourself using the "Select PHP Version" tool, available in both cPanel and DirectAdmin.

Step 1: Open Select PHP Version

Log in to your control panel. In cPanel this is under the Software section; in DirectAdmin it's under Extra Features.

Step 2: Edit disabled functions

Open the Options tab, where you will see a list of disabled PHP functions. Remove a function from the list to enable it, or add one (comma-separated) to disable it. Changes apply immediately.

By default, the following are disabled: curl_multi_exec, dl, exec, passthru, pcntl_exec, popen, posix_kill, posix_mkfifo, posix_setuid, proc_close, proc_open, proc_terminate, shell_exec, system, ftp_exec, posix_setpgid, posix_setsid, proc_get_status, proc_nice, show_source, escapeshellcmd, symlink, escapeshellarg

Warning: These functions are disabled because they have a history of being exploited. Only enable a function if a specific application genuinely requires it.
