How to create a subdomain

A subdomain lets you run a separate section of your site, like blog.yourdomain.com or shop.yourdomain.com.

DirectAdmin

  1. In DirectAdmin, open Subdomain Management.
  2. Enter the subdomain name (e.g. blog) and click Create.
  3. A matching folder is created automatically under public_html.

cPanel

  1. In cPanel, open Subdomains.
  2. Enter the subdomain name and select your main domain.
  3. The document root will be filled in automatically — you can leave it as-is or customize it.
  4. Click Create.

Upload files for the subdomain into the folder created for it, just like you would for your main site.
