How to Upgrade WHMCS through Softaculous

Onebux Hosting includes Softaculous, which offers the quickest and safest way to upgrade an existing WHMCS installation. We recommend using Softaculous's upgrade tool rather than WHMCS's built-in upgrader, since the built-in method runs through PHP and can time out on shared hosting.

Step 1: Access Softaculous

Log in to your hosting control panel (cPanel or DirectAdmin) and open the Softaculous Apps Installer.

Step 2: Find and upgrade your installation

In Softaculous, click All Applications (usually a top-right icon), then find your existing WHMCS installation in the list and click its Upgrade icon.

You'll be prompted for your WHMCS admin folder name — leave this as "admin" unless you previously renamed it to something custom.

Click Upgrade to start the process. It completes almost instantly since it does not rely on long-running PHP scripts.

Step 3: Finish up

Once the upgrade completes, delete the install folder inside your WHMCS directory to finish securing your installation.
