How to create and manage a MySQL database

Many applications (like WordPress) need a database to store content.

DirectAdmin

  1. In DirectAdmin, open MySQL Management.
  2. Click Create new Database.
  3. Enter a database name, username, and a strong password, then click Create.

DirectAdmin automatically creates the user and grants it full access to the new database in one step.

cPanel

  1. In cPanel, open MySQL Databases.
  2. Under Create New Database, type a name and click Create.
  3. Under Add New User, create a username and a strong password.
  4. Under Add User to Database, select the user and database you just created, then grant All Privileges.

You will need the database name, username, password, and host (usually localhost) when configuring your application.
