Live Broadcasting to AzuraCast with Auto-DJ

AzuraCast's DJ/streaming accounts let you broadcast live whenever you want, with Auto-DJ automatically taking back over the moment you disconnect.

Step 1: Set up a live encoder

Install a compatible encoder such as RocketBroadcaster, BUTT, or LadioCast (any Shoutcast/Icecast-compatible encoder works).

Step 2: Enable streaming accounts

Log in to AzuraCast, open your station, and click Enable on the "Streamers/DJs" block on the dashboard.

Step 3: Create a DJ account

Go to Live Streaming > Streamer/DJ Accounts > Add Streamer and set a username (not an email address), password, and display name, then tick Account is Active. Optionally enforce specific schedule times. Save, then note the IP/hostname, port, and mount name shown under Connection Information.

Step 4: Configure your encoder

  • Server/Host: your AzuraCast server address.
  • Port & Mount Point: from Step 3.
  • Password: your DJ username and password joined with a colon (e.g. alex:yourpassword).
  • Username: leave blank.

Step 5: Go live

Start broadcasting from your encoder — AzuraCast automatically switches from Auto-DJ to your live show. Stop broadcasting when you're done, and it switches back to Auto-DJ automatically.
